Our customers have told us that they would like us to work with others to deliver wider improvements beyond just water quality to the areas of rivers and beaches that they use.
Through our analysis we have identified thousands of kilometres of water environments which are accessible to customers. We define these areas as bluespaces and have an ambition to improve 250km by 2025.
With support from our partners, we have developed a new approach towards improving the water environment and a new investment scheme for 2020-25. This will allow us to go ‘above and beyond’ our business-as-usual activities across the company to work with others to deliver bluespaces improvements. Through this activity we will be working towards two of our ambitious goals - leading in catchment management and having the best rivers and beaches in the country.
