Our Recognition

In November 2020 we participated in the Great Place to Work survey, inviting all colleagues to share their views.

2,659 (86%) of colleagues provided their feedback, with 77% agreeing that this is a great place to work. With an overall Trust Index Score of 70%, an improvement on 62% in 2019 and better than our target of 65%, improvements were seen in colleague perception across all areas of the survey.

Awarded by the Great Place to Work Institute, it recognises the support we have available for our colleagues’ wellbeing through our Living Well initiative.

In recognition of our long-standing commitment to, and outstanding delivery of, workplace health and wellbeing we were named a Wellbeing Ambassador.

In 2020 judges were impressed with our clear commitment to customer service, innovation, resilience and our people.

Under the ‘caretakers of water in our regions’ initiative, judges saw our work as rooted in the natural environment and the communities we serve – safeguarding the environment and the water supply for future generations.

We came in 19th place in the Top 25 Best Big Companies to work for.

We are the only water company in the world, and one of just five UK based companies, on this list.

It's the tenth time we've received this global recognition from the Ethisphere Institute.

Winner of the Customer Service Initiative for our Water without the Worry campaign which is the new umbrella campaign for our inclusivity initiatives, services and engagement and includes our commitment to eradicate water poverty in our areas by 2030.

We also took home the Data Project for our Water Poverty Eradication Modelling which uses innovative leading-edge machine learning techniques and toolsets to channel our ocean of big data.

Winner of the Transformation and Innovation award for our of NWG’s industry-leading Innovation Festival and also winner of the IT Initiative award for our implementation of our new CRM and Billing system and processes.

'What a night Northumbrian Water celebrates top industry awards'

Awarded top spot for seven of the nine years, as the UK’s top water company in the British Water annual performance awards, as voted by suppliers.

The judges awarded us the UK Excellence Award for our positive impact on the world, through improving and advancing the economic, environmental and social conditions in the communities we serve.

The judges said we are putting responsible practices at the core of our business, and are helping to create healthy communities with successful businesses at their heart.

We were recognised for our effective strategy, approach and results of our Every Drop Counts campaign which encourages behaviour change in water efficiency.

We impressed the judges with our ‘all round consistent out-performance’ and they recognised us for being an outstanding example of a utility operating at the top of its game.
