A campaign that hears the voices of local communities has expanded further across Teesside.

Following a successful run of events across the Tees, Northumbrian Water’s Local Action campaign is set to reach new parts of the region across the summer, with teams hosting face-to-face conversations with residents in Guisborough and Marske.

Local Action, which sees teams of experts travel all across the region, aims to bring open and honest conversation to the forefront and allows customers to discuss the issues that really matter to them – from water resources and bills to storm overflows.

The successful campaign, which has already seen 29 events take place since it started in 2024, allows customers an insight into environmental and infrastructure projects, and builds trust through face-to-face meetings across the North East.

It gives customers the opportunity to ask questions, share concerns and learn more about the company’s plans to restore and regenerate the environment. It also allows local stakeholders, such as councillors and MPs, to check-in and raise any issues.

Nathan Gamble, Local Action Co-ordinator at Northumbrian Water, said: “Local Action is all about showing up and having meaningful conversations with the communities we serve, and we have found that this is something that is super valuable to our customers.

“We know people care deeply about the environment and the future of their local area, and these events create the space for honest, face-to-face discussions about the issues that matter most.

“By listening to residents, answering questions and sharing information openly, we’re building stronger relationships, increasing understanding of our environmental commitments and ensuring community voices help shape the way we work.”

Earlier this year, Local Action received industry recognition, being shortlisted for Social Impact Campaign of the Year at the Prolific North Awards. The campaign forms an important part of Northumbrian Water’s commitment to delivering its Restore and Regenerate: Our Environment Strategy to 2050, ensuring environmental ambitions are discussed openly with the people they are designed to benefit.
