A campaign will be returning to spread kindness across the North East next week.

Northumbrian Water′s ‘Make my day′ initiative aims to celebrate the company′s customers and people, and employees will be out and about across the region, surprising people with gifts and donations, and volunteering to support community organisations.

The campaign marks National Customer Service Week (October 1-5) and will also see the company set up a mini Mobile Customer Help Centre in the heart of communities. Northumbrian Water′s customer vehicle, Flo, will be in Middlesbrough on Thursday and Durham on Friday, offering people a chance to drop in and meet Customer Team members with their queries.

Earlier this year, the company asked its customers to nominate people or organisations that they felt deserved a treat and hundreds of suggestions came in. A panel of judges then tackled the tough task of deciding who the lucky recipients should be. A vote followed for Northumbrian Water employees to determine further recipients of ‘People′s Choice′ surprises.

Individuals and organisations across the North East will be surprised during the course of the week. Any media interested to know about the surprises in their area can contact External Communications at Northumbrian Water on 0191-3016655.

Teams from Northumbrian Water will be volunteering to help out organisations in locations including Corbridge, Durham and Darlington.

Claire Sharp, Northumbrian Water′s Customer Director, said: "This is our third Make my day, but we are as excited as ever to be heading out and making those surprise knocks on the doors, because we′ve heard some amazing stories about fantastic people across our communities and they deserve a real treat.

"We′re looking at everything from bunches of flowers and something lovely to eat, to breaks away for people who tirelessly put others ahead of themselves. Watch out on our social media to see the surprises unfurl and to meet some of the real stars of our community.

"The addition of our Mobile Customer Help Centre is brand new for this year, as we take our team out into the community and customers can meet the team face to face, which is really exciting."
