Northumbrian Water wins the Best Large Company and named Number 1 in the Top 50 places to work in the North East at the Best Places to Work awards.

The awards evening, organised by The Journal & ChronicleLive which took place last night (13 June) at The Biscuit Factory, Newcastle upon Tyne, encourages companies to share best practice, help businesses attract the best staff and help make the North East the greatest region in the country to work.

 

Judges were looking for the best examples of how nominees make their company a great place to work in the areas of training and development, recognition, employee benefits and health and wellbeing.

 

This year Northumbrian Water were also placed 19th in the Sunday Times 25 Best Big Companies to Work For list, an award which is purely based on employee feedback about how people feel about working for the company.

 

Northumbrian Water pride themselves on being a Living Wage employer and have been committed to this for the last three years. Employees of the company also have opportunities throughout the year to give back to the community in the North East through employee volunteering scheme, Just an Hour.

 

In February the company were also named the world′s most ethical water company for the eighth time, and were only one of two UK based companies and the only water company to make it on to the Ethisphere Institute′s World′s Most Ethical Company® list.

The company supply clean water and treat waste water to meet the needs of current and future generations.

 

Every day they supply 1.1 billion litres of water and employ just over 3000 colleagues across all of their sites and regions.

 

This fantastic news comes just one week after Northumbrian Water′s Neil Robson, Benefits Contracts Manager, received national recognition by winning the Reward Strategy award for Employee Benefits Expert.
