While water supplies in the North East remain at normal levels for this time of year, the company says it is good practice for everyone to be careful not to be wasteful of what is a valuable natural resource.
The company has seen an increase in demand in recent days and, with groundwater and surface reservoir levels monitored constantly, required action can be taken should the situation change.
Martin Lunn, Head of Technical Strategy for Northumbrian Water said: "Our water supplies remain healthy at this time, and we are keeping a close eye on this as the warm weather continues.
We have seen an increase in demand over the past week, but our message remains as it always is and we′re asking customers to use water wisely to help us manage supplies.
"Even small changes can make a big difference, so if you are watering plants do it early in the morning or later in the evening so they can absorb the moisture, remember to turn the tap off when brushing your teeth, and try to cut a minute off your morning shower.
"Whilst there is no overall shortage of water it is always important that people use water wisely, ensuring we don′t waste this precious resource.
"Of course it′s also very important to stay well hydrated when the weather is warm, so make sure you are drinking plenty of water, and carry a refillable bottle with you so you can top up on the go."
As the warm weather continues Northumbrian Water is also reminding customers to stay safe around water, as there are dangers that can kill in reservoirs, lakes, rivers, canals, open water and the sea.
Reservoirs in particular are operational sites which contain machinery, strong underwater currents, varying depths and extremely cold water, which makes them unsuitable for swimming and paddling.

Top tips for saving water -
• Water plants in the evening to retain moisture in the soil.
• Turn off the tap when brushing your teeth and save 6 litres of water each time.
• Shower rather than bath and save 10 litres every time.
• Take shorter showers (aim for four minutes per day) - this can save up to 17 litres per day
• Use full loads in your dishwasher and washing machine.
• Use a bucket rather than a hose to wash the car.
• Use a bowl when hand washing dishes saves 7 litres every time
• Report any leaks you spot so that we can fix them quickly - ring the leak line on 0800 393 084.
• Replace washers on dripping taps - they can waste up to 26 litres of water in 24 hours - that's enough for a shower.
• Get a water butt to collect rainwater. This gives you a free supply of water to use in the garden during warmer periods. Northumbrian Water offers water butts at discounted prices for customers.
