Northumbrian Water are working in Sunderland to improve the performance and resilience of the sewer network in the Roker, Seaburn and St Peter’s areas.

Work on the £8 million scheme started in September and is progressing well. The next phase of work in the Roker area is about to commence.

On Monday, February 13 work will begin in Roker Baths Road, with three-way traffic lights placed at the junction with Park Parade and Roker Baths Road for two weeks, February 13 – 24.

Once complete our contractors, ESH-MWH, will then progress along Roker Baths Road with two-way traffic lights, closing small sections of the single lane for short periods of time from the Friday, February 24 until Thursday, August 31. The final part of the works will be at the junction of Hampden Road and Forster Street. For the Airshow weekend, in July, the road will be reopened fully.

We are working with our partner, ESH-MWH, and with Sunderland City Council to make sure any disruption is kept to a minimum during the course of the work and our community portal is being regularly updated for customers to keep track of the project.

The Portal can be found by visiting www.nwlcommunityportal.co.uk and following the Sunderland link.

Customers who have any queries they can also call in to our Customer Centre located at the site compound on Roker Baths Road, opposite The Derby public house; a representative will be on site from 8.30am to 4.00pm, Monday to Friday.
