Experts, engineers, academics, brainiacs and anyone with a creative flair are being invited to take part in the world’s greatest festival of innovation, between 12-14th July

This year will see the sixth iteration of Northumbrian Water’s Innovation Festival and it will be returning to Newcastle Racecourse for a thrilling summertime extravaganza.

As well as reuniting innovators from all over the world, the exciting event will return with celebrity guests, wellness sessions, fun, comedy, music and lots of unexpected surprises.

The event will also include an array of sprints, hacks and dashes aimed at solving the toughest water sector, environmental and societal challenges – including climate change, cyber security, water scarcity and future ways of working.

Topics that innovators at the festival will be tackling include how to create a more carbon friendly culture, how to build better community relationships and how to make innovation more inclusive.

Angela MacOscar, Head of Innovation at Northumbrian Water, said: “Registration is officially open, and we’re going to be back at our birthplace of Newcastle Racecourse.

“Over the past two years, when the event has been mainly-digital, we learned a lot about how to keep people connected and truly form some strong ideas, and I am very excited to put those learnings into physical practice at the racecourse.

“Some of the event will be held online again this year, as we want to continue to tap into all corners of the globe and make our event as accessible as possible for everyone. But by having different people, viewpoints, backgrounds and cultures together, it means we can get the very best out of our innovators, by having them in whichever environment works best for them.

“There’s something for everyone, so make sure you register now as spaces for this unique event do tend to go quite quickly! And for people who are tight on time, you can also register to just have a look at what is going on!”

Last year’s event, which was held in a hybrid half-digital-half-physical style saw around 4,000 people in attendance from over 40 countries – including Australia, Zimbabwe, India, America, Greece, Poland and China. It also saw talks from guests such as documentary-maker Louis Theroux and activist Magid Magid, as well as a live exercise session with fitness guru Mr Motivator.

This year’s theme is ‘Untapped Potential’ and will focus on finding and bringing together untapped talent from all kinds of different sectors, backgrounds and locations across the globe.
