After 18-months of work-place turbulence, home-working, and unpredictability, attendees at Northumbrian Water’s Innovation Festival 21 are exploring the future ways that employers can put their people at the heart of their business.

The famous festival, which is taking place between 18th-21st October, will see creative, inventive and fantastic minds from all over the world come together to sprint, hack and dash their way to finding solutions to a variety of different problems.

Alongside partners at Salesforce, Mastek, Ntegra, Shout Digital and Corporate Culture, the water company will focus on exploring topics such as inclusion, productivity, wellbeing, safety and culture.

During the sprints, the crack team of innovators will look at how to ensure employee’s voices are heard, how to improve the safety of remote workers, and how to increase productivity in a hybrid working environment.

Angela MacOscar, Head of Innovation at Northumbrian Water, said: “This is a really interesting topic that has been headline news over the past year.

“It’s something that a lot of companies are now trying to adapt to and think about. All good businesses should have their employees at the forefront of everything they do, and are now looking to see what they can do to adapt after a difficult 18-months.

“But these sprints will take that one step further again, by looking at different technologies, roadmaps and approaches to see what really can make a massive difference for workers – not only within the utilities sector, but across a plethora of industries.

“I am expecting a lot from these sprints, but I am sure that I will be blown away by all of the fantastic ideas!”
