Northumbrian Water is flying the flag at the Northern Pride festival in Newcastle this year.
The water company is showing its support for Newcastle Pride 2017 by sponsoring the festival’s Health Zone and taking part in the weekend’s activities.
Flo, Northumbrian Water’s customer engagement vehicle, will be parked up at the Town Moor festival site on Saturday and Sunday and staff will be there to speak to festival goers and members of the public about all things water related.
They will be asking people to ‘have your say’ and provide feedback on the water and waste water services they receive and they will also be giving away freebies and goody bags to those who come along and take part.
Louise Hunter, Corporate Affairs Director at Northumbrian Water, said; “We are proud to play our part in supporting the tenth Northern Pride festival here in Newcastle and are really looking forward to the festivities on the town moor this weekend.
“We will have FLO there and she really can’t be missed! Just look for the huge blue bus with all of the smiling guys and girls in blue, come along and speak to the team and ask anything you ever wanted to know about your water.
“Newcastle Pride gives us the perfect opportunity to show our support for LGBT communities in the North East and to speak with our customers face to face and that’s so important for us. We are delighted to be involved and are looking forward to a fantastic weekend.”
Mark Nichols, Chair of Northern Pride, which organises Newcastle Pride, said: “We’re thrilled to have Northumbrian Water on board as sponsors of the Steve Paske Health Zone for our tenth Newcastle Pride event.
“With health and wellbeing an important part of life the Health Zone is a hugely successful part of Pride and people should call in and see Northumbria water and their staff over the weekend.”
Newcastle Pride, a completely free LGBT festival, attracted more than 73,000 visitors and contributed more than £10.4m to the economy in 2016.
The event has been running in the city since 2007 and in a public show of support Northumbrian Water will be adding the Rainbow Flag to the logos on their Facebook and Twitter accounts for the weekend.
