Almost 32,000 people are receiving financial support from Northumbrian Water. 

With people finding that their current financial situation has rapidly changed during recent times Northumbrian Water have been doing everything they can to ensure that customers receive the financial help and support that they need. 


Through payment breaks, discount schemes and other financial assistance packages the water company has been able to help 31,730 people in these challenging times. 


This includes more than 3,000 payment breaks for customers and over 28,000 bill reductions and discounts of up to 50%. 


The water company's highly trained customer teams have been able to process customer contacts via the website, email and telephone support since the outbreak of the virus.  


Since the beginning of March almost 800 households have been added to the Northumbrian Water priority services register. 


This service is aimed at giving customers who need it, a little more support. People who live alone, have any long term health conditions, are affected by noise or have/look after any children under 5 then are urged to sign up and take advantage of the service. 


One Northumbrian Water customer said: "Offering a three month payment break to help me financially during COVID-19 has eased my concerns with regards to my water charges over the coming months. 


"Having my account updated and my payment arrangements to automatically restart after the break, I can honestly say has been a massive weight off my mind during this pandemic and the important thing is to still have running water to wash our hands. 


"A BIG thank you to Northumbrian Water."
