A project to improve tap water quality for customers in North Tyneside is due to get underway next week.

Northumbrian Water is working to clean and upgrade the mains along a stretch of Tynemouth Road in Wallsend, from Denbigh Avenue to Church Bank.

The work, which will begin Monday August 6, 2018 and is expected to last until Friday September 21, 2018, is being carried out by supply partners, Fastflow.

Three way traffic lights will be in place near to the junctions of Denbigh Avenue and Church Bank intermittently for up to three weeks while the cleaning is ongoing.

Northumbrian Water′s Project Manager, Graeme Ridley, said: "We′re committed to improving the quality of drinking water and work hard across the region to make sure our customers continue to receive excellent quality tap water in the future.

"We appreciate that there may be some short term disruption and we′d like to thank our customers for their patience while this work to safeguard their supply is carried out."
