The weekend′s first pre-race ‘Pasta Party′ will be taking place on Saturday October 6, 2018, for competitors who want to ‘carb-load′ the day before Britain′s most beautiful marathon and half marathon.
Held in the Boat Inn restaurant at Northumbrian Water′s picturesque Kielder Waterside site, a marathon buffet of pasta dishes will be on offer, including one soft drink and unlimited glasses of Northumbrian Water′s top quality tap water, from 6.00pm at a cost of £10 per person.
The 2014 cult-classic running film, ‘The Barkley Marathons′, will also be screened at the party, before the night ends with a short question and answer session with Daley Thompson, hosted by race organiser and Olympic athlete Steve Cram.
David Hall, Head of Leisure Strategy and Transformation at Northumbrian Water, said: "We′re very excited to be hosting the first Active Northumberland Kielder Marathon Pasta Party and welcoming everybody with some fantastic fuel food.
"It will be great for everyone to get together and offers the perfect combination of socialising and nutrition, to help the runners get full of energy and motivation before the big day."
The Active Northumberland Kielder Marathon Weekend 2018 is delivered by Events of the North in conjunction with Northumbrian Water, Active Northumberland, Northumberland County Council and Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
The weekend′s events, which attract runners from all across the UK, are all based around Northumbrian Water′s Kielder Reservoir and include the Marathon, Half Marathon, 10k and the Run Bike Run.
