A North East water company is preparing to use flower power to help transform lives in Madagascar.

More than 200 guests will be getting down and groovy at Northumbrian Water′s annual charity ball in support of WaterAid this summer.

This year′s event, which has a sixties vibe ‘Summer of Love′ theme, will be held at Newcastle′s Crowne Plaza Hotel for the first time.

Taking place on Friday June 14, 2019, guests from businesses across the region will enjoy a champagne reception and three-course dinner, as well as entertainment into the early hours.

A variety of fundraising activities will also be available on the evening, with amazing prizes on offer ranging from helicopter rides to exclusive artwork, and spa days to afternoon tea.

The money raised will go towards WaterAid projects in Madagascar, where the water company′s charity partner is working to transform the lives of families by installing taps and toilets in communities where there are none.

Andrew Blakemore, Chairman of the Northumbrian WaterAid committee, said: "We′re really excited about this year′s Ball, which will really feel the sixties vibe and we′re determined to share the love in Madagascar.

"It′s not acceptable that even in this day and age, almost of half of the Madagascan population - that′s around 12 million people - don′t have clean water.

"Fundraising efforts like our Ball, are a fantastic way for people to get together and have fun, while creating life-changing opportunities through the work of WaterAid."

Tables cost £1,100 for a table of ten. To book a table or to donate a prize, email wateraid@nwl.co.uk. Sponsorship packages are also available.
