Our Next Drainage and Wastewater Management Plan (DWMP28)
Building a Resilient Future for Our Region
Our next Drainage and Wastewater Management Plan (DWMP28) sets the direction for a reliable, sustainable system that protects homes, supports growth, and safeguards the environment. Covering 2030–2055, it addresses climate change, population growth, and ageing assets through smarter planning, innovation, and collaboration.

DWMP28: Strategic Context
We are pleased to share our Strategic Context document for consultation. We would like to hear your views to help shape our plan.
The Strategic Context sets out the long-term goals, challenges and priorities that will guide the development of our next DWMP. It explains the direction we’re heading in, why we’re heading there, and what matters most as we plan for the future of wastewater services across the North East.
Following feedback from customers, we have also created a Customer Summary. This provides an easy to read overview of the main themes in the Strategic Context, along with focused questions we would value your thoughts on.
The consultation is open for six weeks and will close on 31 March. Your feedback is important to us. By sharing your comments, you will help us develop a plan that better reflects the needs of our customers, communities, stakeholders and the environment.
