Essex & Suffolk Water has completed the renewal of 360 metres of ageing water mains along Eye Road, Brome, in Suffolk protecting water supplies for local homes and businesses. The work, which was completed on schedule, will also reduce the risk of leaks and bursts.

This £87,000 project is part of Essex & Suffolk Water’s bigger £1.5bn investment over the next five years to protect water quality. The mains renewal investment programme will continue in Fressingfield in January.

Essex & Suffolk Water worked with their partner T4 to complete the work and would like to thank residents for their patience whilst we carried out the essential work.

Shawnie Lark-Shaffer, Project Manager at Essex & Suffolk Water said:

“I would like to thank customers in Brome for their patience whilst we carried out this essential work. By upgrading the mains, we are ensuring a more reliable water supply for years to come, fewer bursts mean less disruption for our customers.”

As the team enters the new year, following trial-hole investigations conducted along Stradbroke Road Fressingfield in early December, the project team will commence the next phase of work. A £1.4m investment to replace 8 kilometers of existing water mains.

This work will start a month earlier than planned on Monday 5 January. During this time, two-way traffic lights will operate, and several diversion routes will be in place in the coming months.

Essex & Suffolk Water continues to coordinate with Suffolk County Council’s Network Assurance team to schedule road space and manage traffic safely. The water company would like to thank customers for their cooperation whilst the work is taking place.
