Work Experience
The NWG STEM Programme

Our current focus is providing STEM work experience, this allows students to gain an in-depth understanding as to what we do at NWG and the varied careers you can have within STEM subjects.

Due to receiving many requests for work experience placements within STEM roles, we operate a STEM programme which allows several students to complete a two-day work experience programme with NWG. The programme will include a site tour, introduction to NWG and shadowing one of our members of staff who work in our STEM areas. This programme is currently closed and will reopen in 2023.

Individual Work Experience Requests

We also try to accommodate individual work experience requests in a variety of different areas, our work experience application process is now closed for 2022. Our work experience application process will open once again in January 2023. If you have any further questions please email

Our areas we can offer work experience within include –

  • Water
  • Wastewater Operations
  • Information Services
  • Finance
  • Asset and Assurance
  • Commercial
  • Customer Service
  • Human Resources
  • Corporate Services
Innovate Futures Programme

Each year we run an Innovate Futures Programme. Our Innovate Futures programme will offer university students four-week work experience over a four-month period within a specific area of our business.

This years programme will be within our Information Services department and take place from June 2022 to September 2022. This will allow our students to gain experience of working within an IT department. Part of this programme will be paid, and it is aimed at university students looking to gain meaningful work experience around their studies.

We are currently finalising the details of this programme, please check back on this page for further details.

Here at NWG, Diversity, Inclusion and Equality means bringing your full self to work. We encourage and welcome applications from all underrepresented groups, as we believe and strive for community representation within all our teams, structures and organisation.
