Boiler Room Scams - Warning to Shareholders

NWG makes the following services available to its shareholders.

E-communications
Would you like to receive annual reports and notice of meetings electronically rather than receiving printed copies through the post? By registering your email address, you will receive emails with a web link to information posted on our website. This can include our report and accounts, notice of meetings and other information we communicate to our shareholders. For every shareholder who registers for electronic communications the Company will donate £1 to WaterAid. WaterAid is an international charity dedicated exclusively to the provision of safe domestic water, sanitation and hygiene education to the world's poorest people.

The advantages of electronic communication are:

• Security: your documents cannot be lost in the post or read by others.

• Easy access: check your shareholding online at any time.

• Environmentally-friendly: the environmental impact of producing, circulating and disposing of printed documents is reduced.

Registering your email address is easy:

• Go to the 'Online services' section below. Click on the link 'Go to our online services through Capita Registrars' which will connect you to NWG's section on our registrar's website.

• Click on 'Register/Change email Address' and follow the instructions. You will need your Investor Code which is printed on your share certificate or tax voucher.

If you have any queries contact Capita Registrars on 0871 664 0300 (calls cost 10p per minute plus network extras) or shareholder.services@capitaregistrars.com.

Dividends
Over 40% of our shareholders receive their dividends by mandate direct to their bank accounts. Receiving your dividend in this way may be more convenient for you and is cheaper for us. Further copies are available from Capita Registrars on 0871 664 0300 (calls cost 10p per minute plus network extras) or can be downloaded from our website. Tax vouchers will continue to be sent to you by post. You can also register your dividend payment instructions online as described above.

Boiler Room Scams - Warning to Shareholders
Over the last year many companies have become aware that their shareholders have received unsolicited phone calls or correspondence concerning investment matters. These are typically from overseas based ‘brokers’ who target UK shareholders offering to sell them what often turn out to be worthless or high risk shares in US or UK investments.

They can be very persistent and extremely persuasive and a 2006 survey by the Financial Services Authority (FSA) has reported that the average amount lost by investors is around £20,000. It is not just the novice investor that has been duped in this way; many of the victims had been successfully investing for several years. Shareholders are advised to be very wary of any unsolicited advice, offers to buy shares at a discount or offers of free reports into the company.

If you receive any unsolicited investment advice:

• Make sure you get the correct name of the person and organisation.

• Check that they are properly authorised by the FSA before getting involved. You can check at www.fsa.gov.uk/register

• The FSA also maintains on its website a list of unauthorised overseas firms who are targeting, or have targeted, UK investors and any approach from such organisations should be reported to the FSA so that this list can be kept up to date and any other appropriate action can be considered. If you deal with an unauthorised firm, you would not be eligible to receive payment under the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. The FSA can be contacted by completing an online form at www.fsa.gov.uk/pages/doing/regulated/law/alerts/overseas.shtml

• Inform our Registrar’s Compliance Department on 020 8639 2041 or email compliance@capitaregistrars.com

Details of any sharedealing facilities that the company endorses will be included in company mailings.

More detailed information on this or similar activity can be found on the FSA website www.fsa.gov.uk/consumer/
